Homestead exemption is a great way for homeowners to save money. Legislation allows an exemption of school property taxes up to $15,000 off the market value of your personal residence. This is a tax savings typically from $75 to $225 per year!! Below you will find links for the forms you will need to fill out and return to the correct tax office. They will need to be sent in by April 30 and you must have been in your home by December 31 of the previous year. Remember if you are in the Clear Creek School district and live in Harris county you must fill out both Harris and Galveston County forms to get the full benefit of your exemption.
