Seabrook Real Estate! Seabrook first became a part of recorded history in 1832. This was when Ritson Morris obtained a league of land from the Mexican Government. The town was named after Seabrook Sydnor, son of John Sydnor of the Clear Creek Development Company, who purchased a portion of the land in 1895. The town appealed to local farmers, fishermen & merchants and a few seasonal residents. Seabrook incorporated in 1961 fearing annexation from Houston and/or La Porte. In 1964 the drawbridge between Seabrook and Kemah was built. This bridge has been torn down and replaced with the bridge that is currently there today. Seabrook is a unique place to live. This community is a bird sanctuary attracting 291 different species of birds. There are 8 miles of hiking trails enabling you to view the birds. Seabrook is home to the free-flying brown pelicans, while the free-flying white pelicans migrate here each September. If you are interested in a different kind of pelican there is always the Pelican Path Project in Seabrook. If you drive around Seabrook you will see these artistic pelicans in front of different businesses. You will find all kinds of pelicans with their own unique style and character. They are 6 to 8 tall and held down by an 1800 lb concrete base. There are currently 31 completed and around town. Forty should be the final number of these unique pelicans. One of the other charming characteristics of Seabrook is the Back Bay Market held in Old Seabrook. Groups of merchants get together and put up booths around Old Seabrook and market their merchandise. They do this the second full weekend of April and November. You can find specialty items such as collectables, jewelry, clothing, woodwork, and much more. You will also find unique gift and antique shops surrounding the market. Seabrook is also known for its parks, 14 of them - over 100 acres, two boat ramps, fishing pier, 2 public pools, the seafood market - resident shrimpers and fisherment bring in their daily catch, and the marinas. There are 1250 boat slips in Seabrook alone!! It is a great place to raise a family and call home. Seabrook: Homes for Sale in the following subdivisions.
