Bacliff was originally a summer weekend resort town known as Clifton-by-the-Sea.  It was in the late 1940's to early 1950's the town's name changed to Bacliff.   The post office was established in 1961.  Today's Bacliff has an interesting collection of homes ranging from older fishing homes to grand estates on the Bay.
